Forth and Endrick Province News 2009/10

Annual General Meeting

The 2010 Annual General Meeting was held on Tuesday 20 April at 19.30 in the Committee Room of Killearn Village Hall. Robert Chapman of Kippen Curling Cub stepped down after his year as President and Helen Watson of Drymen Curling Club became President for the new season. Alastair Beaton of Port of Menteith Curling Club became the next Vice President.

Prizes were presented for the various competitions and details were given of the Province's involvement in National and International competitions.

Mixed Doubles 2009/10

Logan Gray of Balfron and Rachel Simms won the Scottish Mixed Doubles in the Autumn. Rachel decided not to go to the World Mixed Doubles Championships in Russia in April 2010 but Logan arranged to go with Kay Adams instead. Unfortunately, due to the no-fly zone imposed because of the Icelandic volcanic ash cloud, they were unable to get to Russia in time to compete and had to withdraw.

Paralympics 2010

Michael McCreadie and Aileen Nelson of Forest Hills Trossachs were in the Great Britain team which played in Vancouver in March 2010. Unfortunately, they did not progress beyond the round robin stage, finishing on 3 wins and 6 losses.

Kim McLaren

Kim McLaren of Forest Hills Trossachs was a member of the winning team in the Ladies British Open at The Peak. She is the daughter of Jane McLaren of Forest Hills and the grandaughter of John Phillips of Strathendrick.

The Peak Knockout

A team from Strathendrick comprising Marshall Falconer, Norman Robertson, Bob Glass and Steve Holden reached the final of The Peak Knockout this season.

Henderson Bishop

The Stirling competition for the Ice Rink representatives in the finals at Lockerbie was won by a team comrising Janette Wilson of West Stirling Ladies, Norma Brown of Kippen, Irene Hird of Dollar Ladies and Fiona Glass of Strathendrick. Unfortunately, they did not progress beyond the Group stages in the finals.

Scottish Junior Ladies

Lauren Gray of Balfron has emulated her brother Logan in becoming a Scottish Junior champion. She and her team went forward to defend Eve Muirhead's World Junior Ladies title in Films in Switzerland in early March. Unfortunately, Lauren struggled in her first experience at skipping at this level and only achieved two wins against 7 losses.

Hugh Edmond of Fintry Curling Cub stepped down after his year as President and Robert Chapman of Kippen Curling Club became President for the new season. Helen Watson of Drymen Curling Club became Vice President.

Prizes were presented for the various competitions and details were given of the Province's involvement in National and International competitions.
