Annual General Meeting

The 2015 Annual General Meeting was held on Thursday 9 April at Killearn Village Hall. Ann Hutchison of Forest Hills Trossachs Curling Club stepped down after her year as President and Dougie Telfer of Loch Ard Curling Club became President for the new season. Di Jackson of Strathendrick Curling club became the next Vice President.

Prizes were presented for the various competitions and details were given of the Province's involvement in Area and National competitions. There was some discussion about the various matters that had arisen during the season.

Anna Smith Trophy

This ladies evening league competition at Stirling was won by a team comprising Jane & Kim McLaren of Strathendrick, Lynsey Alison of Buccaneers and Irene Hird of Dollar Ladies.

Area 6 Championship

This new competition was won by Buccaneers. In the semi-final they beat Keir 2 and in the final Kilsyth.

Area 6 Bonspiel

This has been won by the Province for the first time since 1997/8 and the third since the competition began in 1985. Buccanneers also won the Bonspiel Cup as the highest up club in the winning Province. The result was closer than appears as, if Buchlyvie had peeled rather than winning by 1 shot, Stirlingshire would have won on ends.

Linsey Alison

Linsey Alison of Buccaneers has skipped her team to win the Stirling rounds of the Henderson Bishop and will go forward to the finals at Kelso. She also skipped a randomly selected team to win the Stirling Area Ladies Christmas Bonsipel. This latter team included Elspeth Murdoch of Strathendrick and West Stirlingshire Curling clubs.

Scottish Province Championship

Buccanners Curling Club performed well for the Province in this competition. They were top of their section but were defeated in the Quarter Finals by Loch Leven Province who lost their Semi Final to the eventual winners. There is a much more detailed account of this event on the Buccaneers website at www.buccaneerscurlingclub.blogspot.co.uk/.

Pride of Stirling Award 2014

Congratulations are also due to Fiona Glass who won a Voluntary Sector Award for her work with the Stirling Wheelchair Club.

Scottish Ladies Canadian Tour November 2015

Congratulations are due to Strathendrick Curling Club member, Jane McLaren, for her selection for this tour.
