Forth and Endrick Province News 2006/07
The 2007 Annual General Meeting was held on Tuesday 24 April at 7.30pm in the Committee Room of Killearn Village Hall. Fiona Glass of Club 90 Curling Club stepped down after her year as President and Duncan Stewart of Castle Curling Club became President for the new season. Hugh Edmond of Fintry Curling Club became Vice President.
Prizes were presented for the various competitions and congratulations were also given to Annette MacDonald (WSLCC), Margaret Armstrong (Kippen), Mary Paterson (Fintry) and Raye Rickard (WSLCC) for their win in the National Masters Championship and the members of the Gray family from Balfron for their various achievements in national and international Junior Competitions.
We regret to note the death on 2 January 2007 of Duncan MacGregor. Duncan was a member of Thornhill Curling Club for many years and was active in Province, Stirling Ice Rink and RCCC competitions. He had also served on the Province Committee. A memorial service was held at on Friday, 12 January 2007 at Kincardine and Menteith Church Blair Drummond.
Fintry won the final against Kilsyth. In the previous rounds, they beat Keir and Sauchie and Bannockburn. The other clubs were less successful. Drymen and Kippen lost to Torbrex and Sauchie and Bannockburn, respectively, in the first round while West Stirling Ladies received a bye against Blair Drummond in the first round and lost to Grangemouth in the second round.
This was not one of the Province's more successful evenings. After the Competition on 11 January 2007, the Province was in bottom place. The detail of the results was as follows:
