FORTH AND ENDRICK PROVINCE

Annual General Meeting

The 2011 Annual General Meeting was held on Tuesday 19 April at 19.30 in the Committee Room of Killearn Village Hall. Helen Watson of Drymen Curling Cub stepped down after her year as President and Alastair Beaton of Port of Menteith Curling Club became President for the new season. Grant Farquharson of Balfron Curling Club became the next Vice President.

Prizes were presented for the various competitions and details were given of the Province's involvement in National and International competitions.

Annette MacDonald

Annette MacDonald of West Stirlingshire Ladies won both the British Ladies Open at The Peak and the National Masters Championship at Greenacres. Mary Paterson of Fintry and Fiona Glass of Strathendrick were in her team for both events. Raye Rickard of West Stirlingshire Ladies played in the British Open team and Irene Hird of Dollar Ladies played in the National Masters team. Judy McKenzie of Buchlyvie was in Kirsty Letton's team which lost to Annette in the final of the National Masters.

Scottish Mens

Logan Gray of Balfron Curling Club skipped his team to the Page 3/4 play-off where he lost to David Murdoch. Brother Lindsay was playing second in the team.

World Universiade Games

Lauren Gray of Balfron Curling Club was a member of the Scottish women's team, which won the gold medal at this event in Turkey. Congratulations to Lauren from the Province.

Willie MacCallum

The Province were saddened to hear the news of the sudden death of the Loch Ard President, Willie MacCallum, on 1 January. Many Province members will remember the formidable Loch Ard team comprising Willie, son Craig, niece Fiona and long-standing friend Dougie Telfer. The Province sends condolences to his wife Janet, son Craig and the rest of his family.

Robert Chapman

Since the Annual General Meeting, we have heard the sad news that our immediate Past President, Robert Chapman, died suddenly but peacefully on 1 May. The Province sends condolences to Jean and the rest of his family.

Alastair Beaton of Port of Menteith Curling Club became the next Vice President.
