Forth and Endrick Province

AGM 2019

The 173nd AGM was held on Friday 12 April 2019 at the Kirkhouse, Strathblane. The meeting and prizegiving took place took place at 6.30 and was followed by a dinner.

Walter Macgowan succeeded Sandy Park as President and Bob Glass became Vice President. Mike Jackson joined the Main Club Committee on the resignation of John O'Neill. At the Ladies AGM held in March, Heather Burns joined the Ladies Section Committee.

The results of the main competitions can be found at Archive for the Main Club and Ladies Archive for the Ladies Section. Both the Main Club and the Ladies Section had awards for the Curler of the Year which went to Fiona Glass and Heather Burns respectively.

Stirling Ladies Open 2019

This competition was won by the team of Fiona Glass, Jane McLaren, Kirsty Pender and Elspeth Johnston.

Ladies Section Friendly against Club 90

This year the Ladies made the long trip to Greenacres for the annual match.

The teams were:
Sally Macfarlane, Muriel Holroyd, Elspeth Murdoch and Penny Evans;
Pat Rodger, Isabel Robertson, Heather Burns and Gail Pain.

The result was a win for Club 90 by 13 shots to 11. Sally's team won and Pat's lost.

Points competition

This was played as part of the Beattie Points. The Strathendrick winner was Mike Jackson.

Scottish Junior Women's Chanpionship

This was won by a team including Anna Skuse, who is the granddaughter of Gillian and Richard Kingslake.

Henderson Bishop competition

The Stirling play-offs were won by the team of Judy MacKenzie, Fiona Glass, Di Christie and Kirsty Pender (with Sally Macfarlane substituting for Kirsty in one match). They will be going to the finals in Stranraer in February. Judy and Di are members of West Stirlingshire Ladies and Kirsty Pender is the daughter of former Strathendrick members Arthur and Zena Pollock.

Stirling Area Ladies Pairs

Fiona Glass successfully defended her title in this event playing with our own Jane McLaren this year.

Texas Scramble

The Texas Scramble took place on 7 September 2018 at Buchanan Castle Golf Club. The weather was good and 3 teams of 4 took part. The golf was followed by an excellent meal in the club house and a general knowledge quiz with 3 teams of 4/5 people.

The winning golf team was Keith Hyam, John Anderson, Gail Pain and Bob Glass, who accumulated a total of 48 points. The other 2 teams tied on 52 points

The quiz was won by Rita Harris, Sandy Park, Bob Glass and Ella Hyam, who correctly answered 14 questions out of 20.

AGM 2018

The 172nd AGM was held on Tuesday 17 April 2018 at Buchanan Castle Golf Club. The meeting and prizegiving took place took place at 6.30 and was followed by a buffet supper.

There were no changes to the Main Club committee but Gail Pain succeeded Gill Smith as President of the Ladies Section.

The results of the main competitions can be found at Archive for the Main Club and Ladies Archive for the Ladies Section. Both the Main Club and the Ladies Section had awards for the Curler of the Year which went to John Phillips and Norma Thornton respectively.
